On September 19th, the Inauguration and Construction Consultation Meeting of Jiangxi Base of National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center was held at our university. Tian Gang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy, Leader of the Academic Steering Group of the Tianyuan Mathematics Fund under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Director of the Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research; Chen Yeguang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Nanchang University; Jin Shi, Foreign Member of the Academia Europaea (Humanities and Natural Sciences) and Member of the European Academy of Sciences, as well as Dean of the Institute of Natural Sciences at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; and Shen Jie, Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the American Mathematical Society (AMS), and National High-level Overseas Talent, attended the ceremony. More than ten national-level talents from Peking University, Nanjing University, East China Normal University, Xiamen University, Shenzhen University and other universities, along with heads of mathematics disciplines from many universities in Jiangxi Province, participated in the event. Dong Qiuxian, Dean of the School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of Nanchang University, presided over the ceremony.

On behalf of Nanchang University, Chen Yeguang extended a warm welcome to all academicians and experts in attendance first. He pointed out that the establishment of Jiangxi Base of National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center based on Nanchang University is an important milestone in the development of the mathematics discipline of our university, which will greatly boost the progress of the discipline. The university will actively integrate relevant resources, fully support the construction and development of the Jiangxi Base, strive to build it into a first-class domestic platform for mathematical research and academic exchanges, and make greater contributions to advancing basic scientific research and promoting the development of the mathematics discipline.

Tian Gang emphasized that the National Tianyuan Mathematics Fund is a special scientific fund established to advance the development of China into a mathematical power, with the core mission of giving play to the role of mathematical research as the source of original innovation and its leading role, and promoting the interdisciplinarity and integration of various branches within mathematics. The Jiangxi Base should leverage its own advantages and characteristics, drive the development of mathematics disciplines in other universities in Jiangxi through radiation effects, actively promote two-way exchanges of young scholars, and effectively advance the balanced development of the mathematics discipline in the region.

Xia Chao, Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences of Xiamen University and the supporting institution of the National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center, stated that the founding of the Jiangxi Base is an important measure for the center to serve regional development and advance the balanced layout of the mathematics discipline nationwide. He hoped that the Jiangxi Base would seize this opportunity to build a high-level platform for academic exchanges, further elevate the level of academic exchange activities, promote the in-depth integration of mathematical research and application, and boost scientific and technological innovation as well as high-quality educational development in Jiangxi. Efforts should be made to develop the Jiangxi Base into a regional highland for mathematical research, a magnet for talented professionals, and a pilot platform for achievement transformation.

Following the inauguration ceremony, the Construction Consultation Meeting of Jiangxi Base of National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center was held grandly.

Professor Wang Xiang, Executive Director of the Jiangxi Base of National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center and from the Department of Mathematics of Nanchang University, took the development history of Nanchang University and its mathematics discipline as the starting point, comprehensively introduced the achievements made by the mathematics discipline in scientific research, team building, research platform construction, talent cultivation and academic exchanges, and also outlined the current development status of mathematics disciplines in other universities in Jiangxi Province. He also put forward specific ideas on the future development direction, resource integration and construction of innovative platforms of the Jiangxi Base, clarifying the direction of efforts for the base's construction.

The attending experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on the construction and development of the Jiangxi Base and put forward many valuable and constructive suggestions.

It is reported that the base will closely focus on the strategic goals of the National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center, actively carry out work in academic exchanges, talent cultivation, scientific research and other fields, strive to build itself into an important base for the mathematics discipline in the southeast region, and make new contributions to serving the economic and social development of Jiangxi Province and promoting the development of China's mathematics discipline.
