The Nanchang Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology Innovation recently announced the official list of the 2025 (Second Batch) Nanchang Key Laboratories. " The “Nanchang Key Laboratory of Smart Healthcare AI Technology Application”, jointly applied for by the Smart Healthcare Technology Research Institute of the School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (SMCS), Nanchang University, and Jiangxi Health Cloud Digital Technology Co., Ltd., has been successfully approved.

The key laboratory will adhere to the construction guideline of “grounded in frontiers, integrating medicine and engineering, demand-oriented, and application-oriented”, focusing on three core research areas: trustworthy circulation of medical data, research and development (R&D) of smart healthcare security and indigenously innovated software, and multimodal intelligent diagnosis applications. Aimed at addressing industry-wide challenges such as medical data silos, lagging security protection, and insufficient diagnostic accuracy for complex diseases, the laboratory seeks to provide sustained technical impetus for the upgrading of the regional smart healthcare industry chain. It holds profound industrial demonstration significance and social and people’s livelihood value.

This approval marks a significant breakthrough for the SMCS in building an interdisciplinary “medicine-engineering integration” research platform. It demonstrates the Nanchang Science and Technology Bureau’s recognition of the school’s capabilities in multidisciplinary integration and scientific research innovation, further consolidating the school’s leading advantage in the field of integrating artificial intelligence with healthcare.
