To further improve teachers' professional attainment and teaching ability, boost their career development, and build a platform for teachers to exchange experience and learn from each other, the School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences has recently held an undergraduate teaching open class.
The open class was given by Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor Wu Junyun, with the title LAN Technology and Core Principles of the Data Link Layer.
Focusing closely on key teaching points, the course elaborated on the characteristics and advantages of local area networks, common network topologies, and the core differences between the two major Ethernet standards. Professor Wu deeply analyzed the core functions of LLC and MAC sublayers in the data link layer as well as the working mechanism of network adapters. He explained in a detailed and easy-to-understand way the difficult knowledge points, including the fundamentals and key features of the CSMA/CD protocol, contention period, collision detection, and the binary exponential backoff algorithm. Combined with practical application cases, he also illustrated the technical features and historical status of 10BASE-T Ethernet and hubs, converting the abstract and sophisticated principles of underlying network protocols into visual and easy-to-comprehend knowledge frameworks.
The open class not only offers a platform for young teachers of the school to observe, study and make self-improvement, but also accumulates valuable experience for deepening classroom teaching reform, optimizing teaching methods and promoting the steady improvement of undergraduate teaching quality.
