Overview The School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences of Nanchang University was established in January 2022 through the integration of the former Department of Mathematics under the School of Science and the former Department of Computer Science and Technology as well as the Computing Center under the School of Information Engineering. It now consists of two departments and one center: the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Computer Science and Technology, and the Computing Center. The School currently hosts a postdoctoral research program in Mathematics, a first-level doctoral program in Mathematics, a second-level doctoral program in Data Science, three first-level master’s programs in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science and Technology, three professional master’s programs in Computer Technology, Software Engineering, and Network and Information Security, as well as five undergraduate majors in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computing Science, Financial Mathematics, Computer Science and Technology, and Data Science and Big Data Technology. Among these, three undergraduate programs are designated as National First-Class Undergraduate Major Development Sites: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Technology, and Information and Computing Science. Two programs are recognized as Jiangxi Province Five-Star Undergraduate Majors: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and Computer Science and Technology. One program is designated as a Jiangxi Province First-Class Undergraduate Major Development Site: Data Science and Big Data Technology. The School possesses a nationally co-constructed research platform: the Jiangxi Base of the National Tianyuan Mathematics Southeast Center; a provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center: the Computing Center; a provincial key laboratory: the Virtual Reality Key Laboratory of Jiangxi Province; and other research platforms at various levels, including the Academician Workstation of Academician Zhangxing Chen of the Chinese Academy of Engineering—Jiangxi Provincial Academician Workstation, the High-Level Engineering Research Center for Internet of Things and Intelligent Computing, the Institute of Mathematics, the Institute of Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, the Metaverse Research Institute, the Smart Medical Technology Research Institute, among others.
