Influenced by distinguished senior mathematicians including Zhongyi Xu, Chongzhen Ouyang and Zhenqi Li, complex analysis and differential geometry have long been the distinctive research directions of the mathematics discipline at Nanchang University. With the active efforts and pioneering work of the new generation of young scholars, the team's research scope covers numerous branches of mathematics, such as complex analysis, differential geometry, number theory, differential equations, difference equations, algebraic geometry, fuzzy mathematics, tropical geometry and algebraic graph theory.

All team members hold doctoral degrees, with their academic profiles distinguished by the following highlights:

• 3 professors and doctoral supervisors;

• 2 members selected into the Jiangxi Provincial Distinguished Young Talents Program;

• 1 member presiding over the Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation Distinguished Young Scholars Project;

• 2 members presiding over Key Projects of the Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation;

• 1 member appointed as a Ganjiang Distinguished Professor of Nanchang University;

• 5 members selected as Ganjiang Young Scholars of Nanchang University;

• 2 members with postdoctoral research experience;

• 7 members with overseas study experience.

To date, the team has undertaken a total of 20 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 6 projects supported by the China Scholarship Council, 2 projects funded by the National Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and more than 20 projects sponsored by the Jiangxi Provincial Natural Science Foundation, among others.

Team members have published academic papers in prestigious domestic and international mathematics journals, including Advances in Mathematics, Annali della Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Bulletin des Sciences Mathématiques, Israel Journal of Mathematics, Journal of Geometric Analysis, Potential Analysis, Journal of Number Theory, Pacific Journal of Mathematics, Fuzzy Sets and Systems and Science China Mathematics. The team has also published one academic monograph, and won the Second-Class Award of the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award, the Second-Class Award of Shandong Provincial Natural Science Award and the Second-Class Award of National Teaching Achievement Award.

In terms of academic exchanges, the team organized the National Academic Symposium on Complex Analysis in 2017, 2018 and 2023, as well as the Academic Conference on Differential Geometry in 2023. In 2020, sponsored by the K.C. Wong Education Foundation of the Ministry of Education, the team successfully held the International Symposium on Difference Value Distribution Theory and Complex Difference Equations.

The team has supervised 8 doctoral students and more than 40 master students.
